who ya gonna call?

That's right. Ghostbusters. uh.... 2. In the spirit of Slap Shot 2, Caddyshack 2, and Highlander 2, Topps brings you Ghostbusters 2. All of them should NEVER have been made.

Harold, what is with the hair?

these cards are grainy and out of focus. Good job Topps.

that hair you see on the scan around Harold Ramis' face, is not on the scanner, but rather in the picture itself. Nice.
oohh! This is the ultra rare one per case sideways variant all the kids were after back in the day....
and the one per pack sticker insert
There you have it. 1989 Topps Ghostbusters 2.

2005 UD All Star Classics

the 2nd place winner in our little poll was 2005 UD All Star Classics. A set I had not heard too much about. Certainly no packs/boxes of this made their way across the border back then.
Carlos Beltran. Carlos made the team as an injury replacement for Griffey Jr. (there's a shocker) Carlos went 1-2 with a run scored.
David Ortiz. David had a pretty good game as he went 1-1 with a HR, 2 RBI's, 2 runs scored and 2 walks.
Lance Berkman started the game, replacing Griffey Jr. Lance went 0-2 in front of the home crowd.
Torii Hunter never even came close to the All Star game. They wouldn't even sell him a ticket. I have no idea why he is in this set.
Adrian Beltre is a "Future Star"
so is Justin Morneau
Tom Seaver is from the "Legendary All Stars" subset. I always think of Tom as a Red, not a Met. Certainly not a White Sock.
and some guy named after a bear who brought the wrong glove to the game. Smooth.
there you have it. Nice cards. I might grab some of these packs IF I can ever find them. I want to find the card the commemorates the 1st inning meltdown by Roger Clemens, allowing 6 runs before the N.L. could even bat. Nice.

the pack bust winner!

thanks to turncoat dayf, the winner of the pack bust is none other than Pacific's 1988 release of Eight Men Out. It's a 110 card set that can be found on ebay for around $5.

the cards consist of a mixture of vintage photos and movie stills.

the usual nonsport corny lines on the front

I'm embarrassed to say I've never seen this movie....

because I've never been a fan of D.B. Sweeney
can't fault Dickie Kerr... 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA in the Series...
card backs are the usual monochrome '80's look with a blurb about the movie, or stats of the player
ah... when reporters were reporters... and NOT journalists. Those were the days. Just the facts ma'am.
the Grand High Almighty Dictator himself
not a bad little set. Especially for 1988. The photos are really sharp and crisp.
Now I have to go and download the movie....

Pack busts... You choose

Shane from Shoebox Legends sent over some cards the other day, and like me, he likes to include a little extra in each package.
He sent over a few random packs to keep me entertained until my damn OPC gets here.

Take a look at the poll on the right... choose which pack I bust first.

Playoff wager...

It's that special time of year. Spring. The time when a young man's thoughts turn to.... playoff hockey. Yeahhh baby!
No sport has a more intense, passionate playoffs than hockey. And nothing annoys a good Canadian lad more than some Yank thinking he knows more about his national sport than he does. (okay, our national sport is lacrosse, but I'm on a rant here...)

Shane, from Shoebox Legends, has thrown down the gauntlet. Crossed the line. Killed the rabbit. He let the Germans bomb Pearl Harbour.

Yes. That's right. He said the Boston Bruins would defeat the Montreal Canadiens in this years playoffs.
I know. What a buffoon. Anyways, I could not let him get away with it. I picked up the gauntlet, erased the line, performed CPR on the rabbit, and defeated the Germans, just like we did at Normandy and Vimy Ridge!

Take a look Shane... there it is...
Enjoy it. That's as close as you're going to get to it. You may as well send my new Topps Archives Montreal Forum Seat Relic my way now. Avoid the inevitable embarassment.
p.s. No rabbits were actually harmed in the making of this post...
