NCAA Football 08 Sim Results

Fresh off bashing most every aspect of the game this morning, I'm back with the results of the 5 seasons of simming that I did while doing other things (Its basically click and wait work). I wasn't doing any sort of comprehensive study. I was just trying to get a good gauge on a few things which I will know be reporting to you, the hopefully EA hating readers of this blog.

The following are the results of each of the national title games and the other teams that finished undefeated in the regular season in the given sim:

Sim 1 - West Virginia - 27 (National Champs) Wisconsin - 20 Boise State - 12-0
Sim 2 - Virginia Tech - 49 (National Champs) Wisconsin - 14 West Virginia - 12-0
Sim 3 - Louisville - 20 (National Champs) Tennessee - 14
Sim 4 - USC -45 (National Champs) Michigan - 21 Louisville/TCU/Boise State- 12-0
Sim 5 - Texas -33 (National Champs) Louisville - 26

So over the course of 5 different simulations we had 5 different national champions and only two teams which made the game twice (UL and UW). UL, WVU, UW, and Boise State were the only teams to have an undefeated regular season more than once with UL leading the way with 3 teams. Take from that what you will because 5 simulations is not really enough to conclusively prove anything especially with it currently showing no truly strong leaning.

Heisman Winners:

Sim 1- Colt Brennan
Sim 2- P.J. Hill
Sim 3- Steve Slaton
Sim 4- Brian Brohm
Sim 5- John David Booty

In the course of 5 simulations we had no consistent Heisman winner.

The only other thing that I charted was how well the good old University of Kentucky Wildcats played each year:

Sim 1- 5-7, No Bowl, No Big Wins, 81-51 Opponent's Combined Record
Sim 2- 7-6, Lost the Petro Sun Bowl, Beat UL and UGA, 81-51 Opponent's Combined Record
Sim 3- 6-7, Won the New Mexico Bowl (glitch), No Big Wins, 83-49 OCR
Sim 4- 6-7, Won the New Orleans Bowl (glitch), No Big Wins, 83-49 OCR
Sim 5- 7-6, Lost the Autozone Liberty Bowl, Beat UT/Arkansas, 83-49 OCR

So overall UK had a record of 31-33 which averages out to be for a single year to be 6.2-6.6 or about 6-7 which is only possible in this case because UK made two bowls at 5-7, they never finished 6-6. There schedule was almost monstrously difficult as each year the teams they played accounted for over 80 wins not counting the 1-AA school they played at the beginning of the year, there win totals are not counted.

That's all I tracked. If anyone is interested in any particular thing I can run some more, just drop me a line at tmx117@gmail.com. Until then, I'm out.
